Published by Timely Comics (the company that later evolved into Marvel Comics) with a cover date of Fall 1942, Sub-Mariner Comics #7 represents an early expanded solo feature for Prince Namor. Created by Bill Everett, Namor was one of Timely's foundational trio of heroes alongside Captain America and the original Human Torch. The issue was produced during a major period of editorial expansion under the leadership of a young Stan Lee, who served as editor for the publisher's late 1942 superhero lineup.
