Douglas Forsythe

Doug Forsythe (born 1949) is a Canadian printmaker, painter, and mixed-media artist born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. He completed his formal art education at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, graduating in 1968 with a focus on painting and printmaking.

Throughout his career, Forsythe has specialized in intaglio, collagraphy, serigraphy, and monotype processes, alongside paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and encaustic. His subject matter frequently explores coastal landscapes, maritime environments, and abstract compositions. In addition to his fine art practice, he authored plans and instructional materials for building manual etching presses, a resource utilized by printmaking workshops and individual artists internationally.

Forsythe maintained studio spaces and visual art operations in Ontario and Nova Scotia, including long-standing studio galleries in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Chester.
