Aaron Bickerstaff

Aaron Bickerstaff is an artist, carpenter and custom framer born in Ireland who now lives and works in Winnipeg, Canada. His practice focuses primarily on wood carving and painting. An avid lover of the outdoors, his deep appreciation for nature directly informs his subject matter and choice of natural materials.

His work is heavily inspired by the folk art traditions of the Canadian Maritimes, drawing direct stylistic influence from artists such as Joe Norris and Maud Lewis. Bickerstaff's art captures his connection to the natural world through bright colours, bold outlines, and flat perspectives, often depicting coastal landscapes, lighthouses, boats, and native wildlife such as puffins, gulls, and whales.
