Historical Canadian Artists
1935 - 2023
Terrance "Terry" McLean was a Canadian painter born in Virden, Manitoba. Raised in southwestern Manitoba, he developed an early interest in the natural environment while accompanying his father on trapping and outdoor excursions throughout the region.
As a self-taught artist, McLean focused his studio practice on regional landscapes, Canadian wildlife, and historic Western Canadian scenes. Working predominantly in oil and acrylic, his compositions documented Prairie landscapes, rural architecture, native fauna, and historic pioneer subject matter across Manitoba and Western Canada.
McLean spent the majority of his career based in Virden, maintaining an active practice until his death on November 30, 2023.
