Jacques Henri Delpy

Jacques Henri Delpy (1877–1957) was a French painter known for landscapes and city scenes of France. Born in Bois-le-Roi, he studied in Paris under Fernand Cormon. His work reflects strong academic training combined with a naturalistic approach to light and atmosphere.

Delpy exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received awards and established a steady reputation. He painted rural villages, river views, harbours, and Parisian streets, focusing on structure, light, and everyday activity rather than overt Impressionist effects.

His paintings were widely collected in France and abroad during his lifetime. Today they remain in private and public collections and are valued for their draftsmanship, balanced compositions, and consistent treatment of light and setting.
