Christopher Joyce

Christopher Joyce was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He is a 1989 graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and currently lives and works in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he co-founded Attica Furnishings in 1995 with Suzanne Saul. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.  

Joyce’s work is known for its versatility across a range of media, with a design philosophy that emphasizes a modern aesthetic and clean lines, particularly in his furniture. His multidisciplinary practice includes fine art, furniture design, and interior design, and also extends to unconventional media, such as his widely noted portraits created from toasted bread.  

Joyce received the Prominence of Design Award at the 1998 Atlantic Canada Craft Awards for Excellence and was recognized by House and Home Magazine as one of the top twenty emerging designers in Canada in 2006. His work is held in private, corporate, and public collections.
